Description
A rectangular serving board 345 × 245 millimetres, with a channel around the rim and a small round recess in the corner. The recess takes a little bowl, or holds salt and seasoning, while the rest of the surface stays free for cutting and serving. The format is close to a classic kitchen board, so it is used both for preparation and for the table.
The panel is beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves, 19 millimetres thick. At this width a solid piece is not used — it would warp, because wood moves across the grain. Glued staves pull against one another and the board stays flat.
The corner recess usually holds salt, olive oil or mustard, so cutting meat or cheese needs no extra dish. That is why this board suits a kitchen where work is quick and the washing-up is kept short.
Wash by hand in lukewarm water and wipe dry immediately.
