Laser engraving burns a permanent mark into the wood itself. The laser does not apply ink and does not stick a label on — a narrow beam scorches the surface layer, so the mark becomes part of the board. That kind of mark does not wash off, does not fade in the sun and stays legible for as long as the piece itself.
We engrave products from our own range: serving and cutting boards, bowls, trays and platters, barrels, wine boxes and crates. We engrave both a finished product you buy from us and a product we make for you to measure.
What people usually have engraved
- A company logo — on corporate gifts, on boards and boxes that go out to clients and staff.
- The name of a venue — on serving boards that a restaurant, tavern or pizzeria puts in front of guests every day.
- A name and a date — on gifts for weddings, anniversaries, christenings and patron saint days.
- A dedication — a short text on the back or along the edge, for a personal gift.
- A mark on a barrel — the year, the grape variety or the name of the cellar, burned into the head of the barrel.
Why wood takes it well
Beech, oak and other hard species react to the laser by darkening where the beam strikes, which gives a warm brown tone that sits naturally in the colour of the wood. The denser the wood, the sharper the edge of the mark and the more legible small text becomes. On softer species the line is softer and spreads, so larger marks and simpler shapes work better there.
Because the mark is burned into the surface rather than laid on top of it, it survives what a board goes through anyway — washing, the knife, oiling. That is why engraving is chosen when a gift should still be recognisable after years of use.
Price
The price of engraving depends on its size and is agreed for each order separately. It is affected by the area being engraved, how complex the mark is and how many pieces are involved — the same logo on fifty boards does not cost the same per piece as on one. For that reason we do not publish a price in advance; we quote once we can see what is being engraved and in what quantity.
How to order
Write to us at office@kolibica.com and tell us which product you are interested in, how many pieces and what should appear on them. If you are engraving a logo, attach it to your message; if it is text, simply write it out. On that basis we quote a price and agree a lead time.
For questions about the products themselves, browse our range or get in touch through the contact page.
