Description
A round serving board with a flat working surface and a shallow circular recess in the middle. The recess takes a small bowl of sauce, oil or olives, and everything else goes around it. A simple shape that works equally well as a cutting board and as a platter to bring to the table.
The panel is beech, glued up from several staves and worked smooth. Beech is soft enough not to blunt a blade and hard enough not to keep deep marks. The 19 millimetre thickness gives it weight — the board does not slide and does not flex under pressure.
Since there are no dividers apart from the central recess, this is the most versatile board in the round group. You can cut on it, so in the kitchen it often does double duty: first as a work surface, then the same board goes to the table carrying the sliced meats.
Wash by hand, do not soak; oil it from time to time with a wood oil.
