Description
A large round board with a long handle, 600 millimetres long overall and 350 wide. The shape is taken from the pizza peel: the working surface is round and the handle long enough to keep the hand away from the food. It is used for pizza, for a large loaf and for a shared serving brought to the middle of the table.
It is made of beech, glued up from several staves, 15 millimetres thick. The lesser thickness makes it easier to handle at this size, and gluing keeps the panel flat — a solid piece 35 centimetres wide would twist in time.
Being large and thin, this panel should not be carried full by the handle alone — lift it with both hands. The handle is for sliding into the oven and for hanging, not for bearing the load.
Wipe with a damp cloth and leave to dry; do not soak.
