Description
The Lux board, 600 × 200 millimetres, with a channel around the rim and a hand slot at the end. The slot serves both as a handle and as a place to hang it on the wall. At 60 centimetres long this is a board for a serious kitchen — long enough to cut a whole loaf or lay out a full platter of cold cuts.
The channel holds the juices when meat or a roast is cut, so the worktop stays clean. The 19 millimetre thickness gives stability: the board does not slide and does not flex under the knife.
The panel is beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves. At 60 centimetres that is the only way it stays straight — a solid piece would twist at the first change of humidity in the room. Beech is soft enough not to blunt an edge and hard enough not to keep deep marks.
Before first use wash the board in lukewarm water, wipe it and let it dry completely. Only then oil it, because oil does not go evenly into a damp surface.
