Description
A square serving board with a flat surface and a channel cut around the rim. It has no dividers, so it is used most widely — for cutting, for bringing out cold cuts and cheese, for bread. The channel catches juices when meat is sliced, so the table stays clean.
It is made of beech, glued up from several staves, 19 millimetres thick. Beech is dense and hard, so a knife mark stays shallow, and the board does not absorb or hold smells. A 295 millimetre side makes it large enough for everyday kitchen work and small enough to stay on the table.
Because it carries no detail tying it to one use, this board is usually the first one bought — the one that covers everything until you see what the house actually needs. It also pairs well with small round bowls set on it as required.
Do not soak and do not wash in a dishwasher; oil it from time to time with a wood oil.
