Description
A serving board one metre long and 245 millimetres wide. This is a format for long tables — for weddings, conference breaks, tastings and hospitality venues where the food runs the length of the table rather than sitting on plates. One board replaces a row of smaller ones and gives the table an even look.
The panel is beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves, 19 millimetres thick. At this length gluing is not merely a technique but the only way the panel stays straight — a solid piece would twist at the first change of humidity in the room.
Before ordering a board of these dimensions it is worth thinking about how it will be washed: it does not fit an ordinary sink, so it is usually wiped down on a table or rinsed in a bath.
Wipe with a damp cloth and dry; do not soak.
