Description
A serving board in the shape of a guitar, 600 × 400 millimetres, with a pronounced alternation of light and dark staves. The shape and the pattern make it a piece brought out in front of guests, so it is chosen above all by restaurants, taverns and parties. The surface is large enough to carry a whole shared serving.
The panel is glued up from several lengthwise beech staves of differing tone — the striped pattern comes exactly from that arrangement. Gluing is also the condition for stability: at 40 centimetres wide a solid piece would twist, because wood moves across the grain.
The striped pattern comes from the way the staves are laid up, so no two boards are quite the same. In hospitality that is often wanted on purpose, so the table does not look factory-made.
Wipe with a damp cloth; oil from time to time with a wood oil.
