Description
A round serving board 295 millimetres across, with dividers cut into the board itself. The surface is split into several shallow fields, so one board carries cheese, cured meats, olives and nuts at once — each in its own place, with no flavours running together. The size suits a table for two or a starter served with drinks.
The panel is glued up from several lengthwise beech staves. That is how every wider surface is made: a solid piece of that width warps and splits in time, because wood moves across the grain, while glued staves pull against one another and the panel stays flat. The shift of tone you can see across the board is exactly those staves. Beech is hard and dense, does not take on smells and stands up to daily use.
Because the diameter is close to 30 centimetres, the board sits well on a smaller table too, which is why cafés use it for snacks served with drinks. Bought for the home, it pairs well with small round bowls that drop into the individual fields.
Wash by hand in lukewarm water and wipe dry at once. Do not soak and do not put it in the dishwasher; oil it from time to time with a wood oil.
