Description
A square board 300 × 300 millimetres with four bowls set into it, each 130 × 130 millimetres and 30 deep. Dips, olives, nuts and pickles go in the bowls; the board between them takes bread or crackers.
The bowls lift out, so each is filled and washed on its own and the board is wiped flat. Four equal compartments divide an appetiser selection without any of it mixing.
The board is beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves, 19 millimetres thick. At 30 centimetres square a solid panel would warp, and warping would stop the bowls from sitting level in their recesses.
Four bowls is the number for a table of four — one each, or two shared between two. It is the format bars use for the standing order of snacks with drinks.
