Description
A board of 460 × 280 millimetres for the slava table — long enough to hold the cake, the wheat and the candle together, which is how the three are set out at a Serbian feast day.
The surface is flat and uninterrupted, so the arrangement is free. The edges are finished smooth and the board is carried with both hands.
Beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves, 19 millimetres thick. A board this wide cannot be a single piece; glued staves keep the panel flat, which matters for a board stored between uses rather than used daily.
This is a board that is used a few times a year and kept the rest of the time, so it is often made personal. Laser engraving — a family name, the saint’s day, a dedication — is something we do; the price depends on the size of the engraving and is always agreed beforehand.
