Description
A square board 380 × 380 millimetres, made for the slava cake — the ritual bread of a Serbian family feast day. The format is sized to take the whole loaf with room to turn and cut it.
Flat and plain, 19 millimetres thick, with no channel or divider: the slava cake is broken and turned on the board, and the surface has to be clear for that.
Beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves. At 38 centimetres square a solid panel would warp — and this is a board kept for years and used once or twice a year, so it has to stay flat in storage too.
Boards of this kind are often engraved with the family name or the patron saint’s day, which turns a working board into something passed down. We do the engraving ourselves; the price depends on the size of the engraving and is agreed case by case.
