Description
A board for pastrmajlija, size M — an elongated oval that follows the shape of the baked dough. Pastrmajlija comes out of the oven long and narrow, and a square board leaves empty corners while the ends hang over.
The oval has no corners to chip and the rim is finished smooth. The surface is flat, so the dish slides off the board onto the plate in one motion.
Beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves. A board this wide cannot be a single piece — heat from a freshly baked dish would warp a solid panel. The glued construction holds it flat.
Restaurants that have pastrmajlija on the menu buy these in sets, because the dish is served on the board rather than on a plate. Size M covers the standard single portion.
