Description
A wooden cooking spoon 400 millimetres long — the longest of the standard range. For tall pots, for making jam and ajvar, and for anything where the hand has to stay well clear of the heat.
The extra length means the spoon reaches the bottom of a deep pot while the hand is still above the rim rather than inside it.
Beech, hollowed. Wood is used for long cooks because it does not heat up along its length the way a metal spoon does.
For a cauldron rather than a pot, the flat paddles in the same range do the job better: they scrape the base, which a hollowed spoon cannot.
