Description
The Titanik board, 580 × 200 millimetres, elongated and rounded with a hand slot at the end. The rounded outline and long form make it usable both as a working board and as a dish for bringing food out — it is long enough for a whole platter of cold cuts.
The slot at the end serves as a handle while carrying and as an opening for hanging. A channel runs around the rim and holds the juices.
The panel is beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves, 19 millimetres thick. At this length a solid piece would twist; glued staves pull against one another and the board stays straight. The alternating light and dark bands across the surface are exactly those staves.
Rounded ends also mean there are no corners to chip against the edge of a sink. After a year of use the difference from a square-cornered board shows precisely at the ends.
