Description
A square serving board divided into three fields by rounded dividers. The largest field carries the main bite, the two smaller ones what goes with it — a side, a sauce or bread. The shape is meant for hospitality, where one dish has to replace both a plate and a tray.
It is made from a beech panel glued up from several staves. A solid panel of that width would not last — it would warp and split, because wood moves across the grain. Gluing gives a surface that stays flat, and the visible shift of tone is exactly those staves.
Three fields also suit a breakfast layout — eggs, a pastry and jam on one dish. That is why guesthouses use it for breakfast served to the room.
Wash by hand in lukewarm water and wipe dry at once; no dishwasher.
