Description
A serving board 300 × 200 millimetres with a wooden frame set above the working surface. The frame acts as a guide when cutting — bread or cheese rests against it, so the slices come out the same thickness. When the frame is not needed, the board is used as an ordinary one.
The panel and the frame are both beech. The panel is glued up from several staves, because a solid piece of that width warps. At 19 millimetres thick it carries both the frame and whatever is being cut on it.
The frame is set to the slice thickness you want, so it is worth making one trial cut before starting. Once the setting is right, the rest of the loaf is cut without thinking about it.
Wipe with a damp cloth; the frame is cleaned separately.
