Description
Diameter 28 centimetres, between the plate-sized board and the sharing board. Enough for a small cheese selection or a cake to be cut and served from.
Round means the board reads the same from every seat at the table, so it goes in the middle rather than in front of one person. The rim is finished smooth.
Beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves, which keeps a panel this wide flat. A single piece would cup across the grain and then rock on the table.
Cakes are cut on a round board more easily than on a rectangular one — the board is turned under the knife instead of the baker walking around the table.
