Description
Sixty centimetres, rotating — the largest turning board made. It is built for a round banquet table, where the whole meal stands in the centre and the guests take from it in turn.
The turning base is under the board and out of sight. Above it is an unbroken beech circle, flat from edge to edge, which takes platters, bowls and a cutting board all at once.
Beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves. At this diameter a solid panel is out of the question: it would warp, split at the end grain, and seize on the base. Gluing is what makes the size possible at all.
Loaded, a board this size is heavy, so it is set in place empty and filled afterwards. Once it is there it is not moved again for the rest of the service.
