Description
A rotating board of 40 centimetres, for a table of six or more. The size at which a lazy Susan replaces the passing of dishes entirely — everything stands on the board and comes round in turn.
The rotation runs on a base underneath, so the board itself reads as a plain beech circle. The top is flat and open, with no fixed sections.
Beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves. At 40 centimetres a solid panel would warp, and a warped top binds against the base. Gluing is what makes the rotation stay smooth over years.
Restaurants that serve shared plates use boards this size on round tables. One board holds the whole order, and the table manages itself for the rest of the meal.
