Description
A round bowl for polenta 190 millimetres across, with a wooden spoon. Wood is the choice here rather than a decoration — polenta is stirred and served in a wooden dish because wood does not chill the food suddenly and does not scratch under the spoon.
The walls are upright, 30 millimetres deep, and the bottom flat and thick to take the pressure of stirring. The spoon is shaped to follow the curve of the bowl.
Polenta is eaten while it is hot, so the dish should be kept warm until it is served. Wood holds heat longer than ceramic, though not long enough for the bowl to be pre-heated in an oven.
Wash by hand after the meal and wipe dry at once; oil from time to time.
