Description
The Nera board, 380 × 290 millimetres, with a channel cut inside the rim. A classic rectangular shape with no handle and no dividers — the one used in the kitchen every day, for cutting vegetables, bread and meat.
The rim channel takes the juices while cutting, so the worktop stays dry. The 19 millimetre thickness keeps the board steady and it does not move under the knife.
The panel is beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves. Beech does not blunt an edge and a cut mark on it stays shallow, so the board keeps a flat surface for a long time.
A board of this format usually ends up as the one that sits on the worktop and is reached for without thinking. For that reason it is worth oiling every few months — the most used boards dry out the fastest.
