Description
A board in the shape of a heart, 300 × 300 millimetres, with a recess following the same outline. It is bought for weddings, anniversaries and Valentine’s Day, and used for serving for two — cheese and fruit, cakes, or breakfast taken to bed.
The recess is shallow and rounded, so it holds juices and crumbs while the board stays easy to read. The edges are smoothly finished, with no sharp rim.
The panel is beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves, 19 millimetres thick. The outline is cut after gluing, so the curve of the heart runs across all the staves. Beech does not take on smells and does not pick up colour from fruit.
The heart shape takes everyday use as well — cakes, cheese or fruit do not look out of place on it. That is why it is chosen as a gift that gets used rather than stored.
