Description
A board cut in the shape of a fir tree, 300 × 200 millimetres. It sells before the holidays — for serving small cakes, cheese and cured meats on the New Year table, and as a gift that stays in use afterwards.
The tree outline is cut from a glued beech panel 19 millimetres thick, so the board is not only an ornament but a usable working surface. The edges are finished and rounded.
The panel is glued up from several lengthwise staves, because a solid piece of that width would warp. Beech is dense and does not take on smells, so the same board serves savoury and sweet alike.
Being the smaller size, this tree fits a small table or a counter beside the till, so cafés take it as a seasonal detail. After the season it is washed and put away until next year.
