Description
A board for bread — the format that stays on the table through the whole meal. Bread is cut on it and served from it, so it is sized for a whole loaf rather than for slices.
The surface is flat and plain, with no channel: crumbs are brushed off in one pass and nothing collects in a groove. Both faces are usable.
Beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves, 19 millimetres thick. Bread cutting means a long blade drawn across the full width, which is exactly what a glued panel takes without flexing.
A bread board is the one board in a kitchen that is never washed with detergent in most households — a dry brush is enough, because bread leaves no fat. That keeps the surface closed for years.
