Description
A square bowl 300 × 300 millimetres with four separate recesses and wavy outer edges. Each field takes its own snack, so one dish replaces four small bowls, while the soft line of the edge breaks up the strict square and sits well on a laid table.
The fields are 30 millimetres deep — enough that the contents do not spill, shallow enough to reach easily. The dividers are hollowed into the panel itself, not glued on, so there are no joints where crumbs or moisture could gather.
The panel is glued up from several lengthwise beech staves. That is how every wider surface is made: a solid piece of that width warps and splits in time, because wood moves across the grain, while glued staves pull against one another and the panel stays flat.
The wavy edge is not only decoration: the breaks in the rim give the fingers somewhere to hold, so a full dish is gripped more securely than a plain square one.
