Description
A round board of 30 centimetres on its own stand. The board is raised above the table, so the dish sits at eye level and the space underneath stays free for plates and glasses.
The stand is a separate piece — the board lifts off it and is used flat when that is what is wanted. Both parts are beech and finished alike.
Beech, glued up from several lengthwise staves. A raised board must be flat or it rocks on its stand, so the panel is built from staves rather than cut from one piece.
Raised boards are used for cakes most often. A cake at height is easier to cut, because the knife goes down and through rather than across at an angle.
